During the next 3 weeks, we will be studying the Broadway musical, FELA, based on the life of the Nigerian musician and activist Fela Kuti. We will be viewing the show, studying the text (songs & dialogue), working with a teaching artist and ultimately, creating a project inspired by the show.
To prepare for next Wednesday's trip to see the show, work with a partner to research some of the main points about Fela's biography and Nigerian history during his time period. Then, read the NY Times review of the show, as you will be creating your own review after viewing the play.
